ServiceNet Uses $35,000 ARPA Grant from City of Northampton to Install Advanced Disinfection Systems in Northampton Facilities
ServiceNet was awarded a $35,000 grant in early 2023 from the City of Northampton’s ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) Community Recovery Projects fund. This grant was used to install advanced environmental disinfection systems across four of ServiceNet’s more heavily used properties in Northampton.
The project, aimed at bolstering public health in congregate settings, focuses on reducing the transmission of COVID-19 and other airborne pathogens. The installed systems work to purify indoor air and surfaces, creating safer environments for both clients and staff.
The systems, developed by CASPR, were recently tested by independent lab ARE Laboratories and meet the new ASHRAE Standard 241-2023 for Control of Infectious Aerosols. The findings showed that the CASPR system could reduce over 99% of aerosolized MS2 virus within 30 minutes and over 70% within just 4 minutes.
These systems not only enhance safety but also minimize energy usage and costs, providing continuous disinfection without disrupting facility operations. “We are grateful to the City of Northampton for this ARPA funding,” said Amy Timmins, vice president of community relations at ServiceNet. “This support has allowed us to create healthier, safer spaces for our clients and staff, furthering our commitment to public health in the community.”
