ServiceNet Announces Inaugural Art Show Launching on World Mental Health Day
ServiceNet—a non-profit mental health and human services organization serving communities throughout western Massachusetts—will host its first annual art show in October. The show will launch on World Mental Health Day, Tuesday, October 10, and run until October 27, with an opening reception on Thursday, October 12, from 4-7 pm.
Featuring the artwork of over 30 ServiceNet community members, this show will run at ServiceNet’s administrative offices, 21 Olander Drive in Northampton, through October, with select art pieces displayed at participating locations across western Massachusetts in November and December.
State Senator John Velis, who serves as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Mental Health, Substance Use, & Recovery, commented that “Right now so many people in our community are struggling with mental health issues and limited access to services. However, it is organizations like ServiceNet that are stepping up to bridge these gaps to help those during their most vulnerable moments,” he said. “ServiceNet’s first annual art show not only displays the incredible talent of these artists but showcases the healing ability of art while reducing stigma around the topic of mental health and providing hope.”
ServiceNet’s opening reception on Thursday, October 12, from 4-7 p.m. is open to the public and will feature catering from ServiceNet’s Rooster Café, live music from Aída O’Brien, a silent auction, door prizes, and more. Follow-up art viewings and tours are available by appointment Monday-Friday, October 13-27.
