Maddy Mallalieu: Creating Opportunities for Enrichment at ServiceNet
Maddy Mallalieu, Program Director at ServiceNet’s Enrichment Center, brings years of experience and dedication to her role. Growing up in a family committed to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities—her mother worked for the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) for over 20 years—Mallalieu developed a deep understanding of caregiving and community building.
Before joining ServiceNet, Mallalieu worked for DDS herself and served as a caregiver in a shared living arrangement with her family. Encouraged by a friend, she applied for a site manager position at ServiceNet and was soon promoted to Program Director.
Under her leadership, the Enrichment Center has focused on engaging participants in meaningful activities both on-site and in the community. Events like the Enrichment Center’s prom and holiday celebrations have strengthened the sense of community, while regular programming such as yoga, art, music, and therapy sessions has helped boost attendance after struggles post COVID-19.
“We aim to create experiences that reflect the fullness of life,” Mallalieu says. “Many participants missed key milestones, and events like prom and community outings help them reclaim that joy.”
Mike Lalak, Vice President of Residential Services in ServiceNet’s Developmental and Brain Injury Services (DBIS) division, praises Mallalieu’s leadership. “Maddy has a unique ability to connect with participants and staff alike,” he says. “Her efforts have helped grow the Enrichment Center, fostering an environment where participants feel valued and thrive.”
Looking ahead, Mallalieu hopes to expand the center’s reach and impact. She highlights the talents of its participants, many of whom excel in areas like art and music. “There’s often a misconception about what individuals with brain injuries can do,” she says. “We see incredible talent here every day.”
Through her vision and commitment, Mallalieu continues to create a vibrant and supportive environment for participants and staff at the Enrichment Center.
