In-Home Therapy and Therapeutic Mentoring

The Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative is an inter-agency initiative of the Commonwealth’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services whose mission is to strengthen, expand, and integrate Massachusetts state services into a comprehensive, community-based system of care and to ensure that families and their children with significant emotional and behavioral health needs obtain the services they need for success in home, school, and the community. Our services include in-home therapy and therapeutic mentoring.

In-home therapy provides therapy in your home, including both family therapy and inpidual therapy with your child. Therapy can be short- or long-term. Families may elect to receive office-based therapy at the same time. In-home therapy is available to all MassHealth members under 21. Any family that has a child or adolescent who is having emotional or behavioral difficulties may receive in-home therapy.

Therapeutic mentoring involves a mentor assisting your child to take what they learn in therapy and use it home, school, and in the community. Therapeutic mentoring is available to all MassHealth members with MassHealth Standard or MassHealth Commonhealth under the age of 21. To receive this service, your child must be referred by their in-home or office-based therapist.

In-home therapy and therapeutic mentoring services are available throughout Hampshire and Franklin counties. Office-based therapy is available in Northampton, Greenfield, Holyoke, and coming soon to Amherst.
